What is golf travel insurance?

Golf travel insurance protects you and your golf gear on golf holidays.

As fun and exciting as travelling with your golf equipment and playing unfamiliar courses abroad can be, the unknown can create more opportunities for accidents.

Standard travel insurance policies may not always provide the level of cover you would expect for a golf holiday, which means you may have to pay extra to add golf-specific cover, such as for clubs and bags, to your policy.

That’s where specialist golf travel insurance comes in. Through Golf Care, you can select the level of cover you need for your golfing adventures, wherever you’re jetting off to.

Why should I consider golf travel insurance?

Whether you’re a once-a-year traveller or a more frequent jet-setter, you may want to consider golf travel and holiday insurance.

This covers you for accidental damage to third-party property, injury to another person while playing golf, personal injury on the course, and more.

Golf clubs and accessories are often expensive, so you may want to protect them whilst travelling in case something happens, such as if they’re lost or stolen.

Or, if you travel without your clubs, unlike a lot of standard travel insurance, golf insurance through Golf Care can cover the cost of temporary equipment hire in the event of a claim*.

*In the event of a claim, we will pay for equipment hire up to the limit stated in the insurance schedule, and the hired equipment must be comparable to the lost or damaged.

What does golf travel insurance cover?

Golf travel insurance through Golf Care can cover your clubs, bags, and accessories* against loss, theft, and damage when you travel.

Cover is split into four levels according to your equipment value and where you want to be covered to play. The coverage breakdown is as follows:

  • Bronze Policy

    Equipment cover up to £1,500

Public Liability up to £10m when playing in the UK, unless additional Europe or Worldwide cover is selected

Personal Accident cover up to £50,000

  • Silver Policy

    Equipment cover up to £2,000

Public Liability up to £10m when playing in the UK, unless additional Europe or Worldwide cover is selected

Personal Accident cover up to £50,000

  • Gold Policy

    Equipment cover up to £3,500

Public Liability up to £10m when playing anywhere in Europe (with the option to add Worldwide cover)

Personal Accident cover up to £50,000

  • Platinum Policy

    Equipment cover up to £7,500

Public Liability up to £10m when playing anywhere in the world

Personal Accident cover up to £50,000

Whichever policy option you choose, your golf clubs will be covered on a new-for-old basis if they were purchased new and are less than three years old (subject to satisfactory proof of ownership).

Items over three years old or not purchased new will be replaced on their indemnity value at the time of the loss or damage.

For Equipment cover, the following single item limits apply:

  • Bronze: £200
  • Silver: £200
  • Gold: £500
  • Platinum: £1,500

*Accessories include clubs, balls, bags, trolleys, carts, clothing, GPS devices (including watches), and other accessories purchased for playing golf.

Who is golf travel insurance for?

Golf travel insurance or golf holiday insurance is for anyone who travels or is planning to travel abroad to play golf—be it in Europe or even further afield.

Regardless of your golfing ability, how often you play, whether you compete in tournaments or have casual rounds with friends, golf holiday insurance can help ease some of the stresses of travelling with your gear.

We know you’d rather be focusing on your game than worrying about not being covered!

How much does golf travel insurance cost?

The cost of your policy will depend on the level of cover you choose. There are four levels of cover to choose from through Golf Care—Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.

Bronze policies start from as little as £27.72 per year, but costs will vary depending on your choice of cover.
